You have plenty of options if you’re travelling to Sheffield from the Capital. You can take a direct train or change trains on the way, with at least three routes and four different companies available.

For Off-Peak hours, the direct East Midlands Railway service from London St Pancras to Sheffield is the simplest option. However, for travel on a Friday evening, the best option is to take a combination of LNER and Northern.

Does Manchester have cheap train tickets to Sheffield?

You have a choice of three companies if you’re looking for cheap train tickets to Sheffield from Manchester. TransPennine Express and East Midlands Railway run faster services, while Northern runs the stopping train.

Northern tend to offer cheapest Sheffield train. Their stopping trains might be the slowest option, but they start at Sheffield and end in Manchester. This gives you the best chance of getting a seat.

If you’re coming from Newcastle you can reach Sheffield by taking either the direct CrossCountry train or the LNER train to Doncaster and transferring there.
