Train travel disruption
Train Travel Disruption
Looking for a guide to UK train travel disruption? You’re in the right place. Here’s our guide to why and when disruption is happening, if you are advised to travel and if your ticket is valid on a different day.
There is no widespread train travel disruption at a national level expected in the coming days.
Disruption can be caused by:
- Engineering works: Planned track maintenance or upgrades.
- Strikes: Industrial action by rail staff.
- Severe weather: Snow, ice, flooding, heatwaves.
- Accidents: Incidents involving trains or people on the lines.
- Overcrowding: Issues with passenger numbers exceeding capacity.
For full details of localised engineering works and disruption please check the website of the train operator you are travelling with or the National Rail website.
Can I get a refund if my train service is disrupted or cancelled?
